Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is a standard security process used to verify your identity through Plaid. It ensures that only verified members can access and withdraw funds, which helps prevent fraud, identity theft, and unauthorized transactions.

KYC is required for certain actions, such as:

  • Withdrawing funds from your Benjamin account
  • Linking or updating payment methods (e.g. bank accounts, PayPal, Venmo)
  • Confirming your identity in case of suspicious activity

Why is KYC verification required?

KYC verification is required in order to:

  • Protect your account from unauthorized access
  • Comply with financial regulations to prevent fraud and money laundering
  • Ensure secure withdrawals to your linked bank or payment accounts

How to complete KYC verification

If KYC verification is required, follow these steps:

1. Log into the Benjamin app

  • Log into your Benjamin account.
  • If verification is required, you will be prompted to navigate to “Withdrawal.”

2. Submit your ID

You’ll be asked to provide one of the following government-issued ID documents:

  • Passport

  • Driver’s license

  • National ID card

Please ensure the document is:

  • Clear and legible (no glare or blurry images)
  • Valid and not expired

3. Complete the selfie verification (if required)

You may be asked to take a selfie to verify your identity against your submitted ID.

Please ensure the following:

  • Your face is fully visible with no obstructions.
  • The lighting is clear and natural.

4. Wait for verification approval

  • Verification is typically approved within the day.
  • You’ll receive a confirmation notification once your identity is verified.
